    1. [This review originally appeared at Erotica Revealed.]“Will you tell other women stories about me when we are over?” she asked Alexander. He wanted to be truthful and say no, but already she knew him too well. He was who he was, and aware that the temptation would be too strong not to talk about her, to improvise tales of beauty and fury, of lust and longing, songs of adoration and missing. This self-referential quotation encapsulates Maxim Jakubowski's latest novel – a book of tales about w [...]

    2. Ekaterina and the Night is a wonderful love story about two people born too many years apart for their union to be socially acceptable. Gently falling in love and lust through emails, the passion and sensuality between Ekaterina and Alexander simmers from the page. Drawing the reader into the tale and into the hearts of the hero and heroine so that when they finally get together it is impossible to stop reading - I really felt quite voyeuristic during the seduction, especially the wonderful bath [...]

    3. Ekaterina is a very sexy young Italian girl who enjoys travelling and Maxim takes you brilliantly through her sexual growth and her increasing enjoyment of the story of O style sexual encounters; with enjoying a more submissive role with her male partners. As a journalist she is sent to interview the British ageing writer Alexander who is much her senior and most the book then takes you on the parallel journey with Alexander and Ekaterina as we follow their separate lives and many sexual encounte [...]

    4. A beautifully written book, with lush language in detailing the sexual history of the main protagonists, Ekaterina and Alexander, but somehow there's a slightly detached feel to it all - you can picture it all perfectly, and in doing so it's as though you're watching a beautifully shot movie, but the emotion is lacking, there's a kind of coldness to the way Ekaterina and Alexander's experiences are recounted, and despite the explicit and frequent sex this dispassionate language takes away much o [...]

    5. An interesting premise that doesn't quite deliver.Ekaterina and the Night is written in episodic form charting the doomed relationship of Ekaterina and Alexander, separated as they are not just by distance but by enough years to make him old enough to be her father. Laced between their story is that of Emma, a rather sexy angel of death.Sadly I felt the story is let down by the structure of the book. I never felt that I got to know Ekaterina or Alexander well enough to really care what happened [...]
