    1. I’m really torn over how to rate this book. I absolutely loved the beginning. A friends to lovers story set 12 years after Kennedy and Memphis met in College, and became instant, if unlikely, friends. It reminded me very much of Travis and Abby from Beautiful Disaster - if they had never actually gotten together. But towards the end, the book dissolved into a love triangle that became a bigger issue than it really needed to be, and turned an otherwise likable heroine into an absolute idiot. But [...]

    2. Reviewed at toughcriticbookreviewsspoThis book found my "g" spot! BEST FRIEND ROMANCES!In fact, that's what attracted me to Risking it All to begin with. Nothing's better than BFFFF's (best friends forever finally f**ing). It's like my Christmas!First, let me tell you the things about the book that turned me on I loved. Memphis Adams! Sex with Memphis Adams, all things Memphis Adams! Seriously, Jennifer Schmidt knows how to write sex physical intimacy. I really think the flames on the cover came [...]

    3. For whatever reason, I never read the summary past the first paragraph and thought this was a mature YA/new adult book. Then I went back right before I started and read the summary and glanced briefly at the GR shelving and thought I was going to be reading an erotic book.If I'd taken more than 10 seconds to look, I would have found that this is a contemporary romance.Note to self number 1 : figure out what you're reading before you start, so you're not completely puzzled about why you were expe [...]

    4. I received Risking it All as an ARC from The Writer's Coffee Shop Publishing House via Netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity. I could not be more pleased with this book at this moment. I stayed up until 1am to finish it because I couldn’t put it down. I could not go to sleep and not know what happened!Kennedy Monroe meets the handsome, charming and womanizing Memphis Adams in college. Firmly stating that she would NOT sleep with him the two become friends, best friends and a friendship that [...]

    5. I think I have grown up. Perhaps this type of book would have appealed to me more at a different stage of my life. Or then perhaps not.Kennedy and Memphis. So who's the Hero, who's the Heroine? I had a problem with these androgynous character names. I am not familiar with American names and I got lost in who was was who, constantly having to remind myself that Kennedy's the girl, Memphisoh right the guy. Painful!Memphis (the guy) is a sexy Casanova who decided to be just friends with Kennedy (sh [...]

    6. 3.75 StarsYou’re about as close as I’ll have to a wife, anyway, I’m sure.First off, thank you to the Writer’s Coffee Shop for allowing me to read this ARC. I was so excited to read this and I am ecstatic to have been given the opportunity. Thank you!Okay, where to begin, where to begin… I’ve always been a fan of love stories that involve two long time friends. When one of those friends happens to have had a reputation as a college Casanova with commitment issues, well, the story just [...]

    7. I wanted to like this book, really, I did. And the writing itself is not bad, but the plot and the characterizations in this novel drove me batty.Kennedy and Memphis have been best friends since college. He's a bit of a Casanova, don't-tie-me-down kinda guy, and she's pretending to be an adult, reading possibly too much into the warnings to stay out of his bed because he is rumored to just use and discard women. Fast forward 12 years, Kennedy is dating Brooks, a doctor, who's as one-dimensional [...]

    8. **** ADDITIONAL POSTING INFORMATION COMING SOON ****Overall Rating: DNF after 60% read [1.5]Book Cover / Book Blurb = 1 / 3 = total of 2Writer’s Voice = 2Character Development = 3Story Appreciation = 1Worth the Chili = 1 [ARC from Pub via Netgalley, but didn’t finish]Well the premise was good. And the book started pretty good. I read to the 60% mark and didn’t see it going anywhere really. Bored me silly. We had Kennedy Monroe and Memphis Adams. They meet in college. He is a “bad boy”, [...]

    9. I find it so pissing off that authors being women can even write such characters of a shallow spineless dependable women. I mean have some self-respect.We like feisty bitches, not whiney pussiesIS BOOK PISSED THE SHIT OUT OF ME.After reading such books, my reaching is always like *looking up to the sky and mumbling* Why am I a girl? They suck! They think from their fucking vaginas. The main character sucked. I mean Kennedy was HORRIBLE; even that word doesn't do her character justice. She is just [...]

    10. Kennedy Monroe was warned away from bad boy Memphis Adams in her first year of university; she had only to watch all of his bitter and dejected one night stand's to see why. But when she met him, she found herself becoming his friend instead of his latest conquest - and the two have been best friends ever since. Twelve years have gone by since that first meeting, and with Memphis's support Kennedy has finally made it as an artist with her own exhibition - never mind what her parents wanted her t [...]

    11. *deep breath*I finished this book a couple of days ago, and I was so incredibly angry and disappointed with it - well, not with it, more like with her, Kennedy (main character) - that I decided to give it a few days before I tried to review it, that way I would cool off and give a review that was not harsh at all. Turns out I feel worse, I was planning on giving it two stars and with all my thinking it went down to one. Now I'm going to take a really deep breath and try to do this in the most ci [...]

    12. I really loved this book! Something about these two characters really crawled right under my skin! Sometimes there is just a book that grabs you and holds on tight all the way through and this was that book for me!Any one who knows me knows that I am a total sucker for a friends to lovers story and that is really what this wonderful book was but with so much more!In college Kennedy Monroe heard all the gossip about Memphis Adams and knew there was no way she was going to simply be another notch [...]

    13. This book felt really familiar. And by familiar, I mean it felt a bit like a P2P fic I've read somewhere. For a minute in the middle of book, it actually had a lot of promise, but then the author decided to throw in a few more loops into an already complicated roller coaster of a story and it sort of ruined it for me. The back and forth between Kennedy & Memphis - was endearing at first, but by the last third of the book, I honestly wanted to bash their skulls in for being so freaking obtuse [...]

    14. What and excellent book. I loved their story. Memphis was oh so swoony and Kennedy was just as perfect. I am so glad I decided to read this book and would recommend it to everyone.

    15. This is one of those books that will appeal to the friends-first-lovers-later romantics of the world. Kennedy and Memphis (such rockstar names!) have been best friends since college. They agreed early on that their friendship was simply too precious to both of them to ruin it by sleeping together. They are always there for each other, open and honest, keeping no secrets from one another, except that they actually would like nothing more than reconsider the no-sex policy. While Kennedy is in a co [...]

    16. I was very fortunate to have an opportunity at an ARC of Risking It All. My first impression with the blurb was wonderful. One of my favorite story lines is the friends to lovers theme. Kennedy and Memphis have been best friends for 12 years. Their relationship began back in college when Memphis attempted to turn his ladies man charm onto Kennedy. Not in anyway keen to the idea of being just another notch in Memphis's bed post, Kennedy immediately turns him down After their initial meeting they [...]

    17. This is a wonderful story of two best friends, risking it all for love. I read this all in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down! My heart bled for Kennedy and Memphis. They kept trying and doing everything wrong. Memphis and Kennedy definitely had that spark and energy of two people dying to be more than friends, but neither one was willing to take that chance. Once they did finally take the plunge, they kept saying and doing the wrong things. They just ended up hurting each other as onl [...]

    18. 3.5 starsKennedy Monroe barely got her foot in her college dorm her freshman year before she was being warned about a certain dark-haired, blue-eyed self-proclaimed Casanova. There were only so many tales of heartache – and incredibly steamy nights – she could listen to before she started to believe them. But after a run in with the most sought after college womanizer, her ill feelings toward him change and soon a friendship forms that surprises everyone.Twelve years later Kennedy and Memphi [...]

    19. re-readRisking it all is about two friends Memphis and Kennedy who have been friends for twelve years who are afraid to risk there friendship to see if they can become more, and two people who are to afraid to let it all hang out and tell the other how they really feel. Until a trip to Alaska pushes their feelings to the forefront and they can no longer help but face how they feel. Memphis was one of the best heroes I have read about in a long time. My only complaint was that the end was a littl [...]

    20. This book has been on my TRL forever. So glad I decided to give it a try because I LOVED it ! A friends to lovers that was full of angst and sexy. Kennedy and Memphis met in college and became best friends. 12 years later and things change. Great story with likable characters, although Kennedy will get under your skin and you will want to slap her upside the head. Loved the build up and flow. My only issue with this story was that I felt the ending was very rushed and I would of liked a bit more [...]

    21. Things with you have never been simple,Kennedy, not since that day.If they were, then I wouldn’t be in love with you. That’s why I took you to Alaska,Kennedy.I took you because I fucking love you.I’ve been in love with you for twelve years now,and I wanted to somehow finally show you.I think I started to fall for you that first day on the beach,”he continued.“Why do you think I decided that nothing could ever happen between us?You were the only good thing in my life, and I didn’t want to [...]

    22. Review source: PublisherA passionate romance that's more about relationships and friendship. My TakeOh, I like this. I don't agree with the assessment that this is erotica so much as it's passionate about relationships and Schmidt sucks us in and relates an excellent life lesson to be true to yourself. It's today with a flashback that introduces us to a major influence on Kennedy's life. Memphis is the man who, through his own existence, gives Kennedy the courage to choose to follow her own path. [...]

    23. Reviewed at The Book ListI received an Advanced Reader's Copy of Risking It All from The Writer's Coffee Shop Publishing House through NetGalley. I could not be more impressed, or more happy that I had the privilege of reading and reviewing this book. The synopsis does a great job of setting up Risking It All, so I won't repeat it. We meet Kennedy and Memphis (btw, what awesome names!) 12 years after their friendship begins. I was immediately drawn in to their story. I couldn't get enough of Memp [...]

    24. What if everything you ever needed was staring you in the face all along? When Kennedy Monroe began life as a college student, she knew her sole focus would be school…not the darkly handsome, bad-boy-ladies-man, Memphis Adams. In fact, her whole goal was to steer clear of this self-proclaimed Casanova – that was before she caught a rare glimpse into the real Memphis Adams, not the campus man-whore he portrays himself to be. Kennedy Monroe is still safe though, because Memphis tells her he nev [...]

    25. At first, I was really thrilled as I loved the passion and fire provided by Memphis Adams Then I was caught by other readings. When I had to finally write my review, the excitement was settledAttention, I had a great time and I really enjoyed reading this hot sexy romance. But after a few days, the hotness side of Memphis Adams has fallen and then some aspect that have troubled me when I was turning the pages have taken more space in my review. For example, I would have loved to have more friends [...]

    26. Wow. First off, I have to start by saying that this book is really horribly priced. Reading the description left me thinking “This book will be amazing!” but the price left me thinking “I’ll never read it because it’s way too expensive!”So with that thought, I have to thank a really generous friend who bought this, read it, loved it, kept it and let me borrow it. I was hooked from page one. I loved Memphis and Kennedy. There was definitely angst and drama but I loved every moment of [...]

    27. What did i think of this book?? At times frustrated, at times flustered!! I know we've all read a book similiar to this. Guy/Girl best friends, underlying attraction, love, lust, etc But these two held out for 12 years! At times I was wanting to yell "get a clue, read between the lines, or effing speak up and say what you need to say!". But the way the book was drawn out I liked. Misunderstandings are always frustrating, but i liked the passionate reward. The intimate scenes were well written. Y [...]

    28. Oh, my Lord, this one was HOT! Travel photographer Memphis Adams has now been added to my (long) list of fictional boyfriends, especially after his particular prowess in the colds of Alaska. The heroine, Kennedy, was so dense sometimes about his feelings for her that you just wanted to slap her, but when they got together it was soooo good! Jennifer writes vividly, so much so that I could see every scene in my head. I shouted "nooooo!", and sighed and swooned, which I guess is the sign of true i [...]

    29. Ugh. Ok - I love Memphis( if not his name) but Kennedy (who's name also drove me nuts) made me want to punch her in the face. I was so so frustrated with her dithering between Memphis and Brooks - that I pretty much lost all respect for her and wanted Memphis to go off and find some other nice girl. Also - some of the platonic interactions that had been eluded to (like how they had been naked with each other in the past and it wasn't a big deal) just seemed strange. Plus, I could not understand [...]

    30. This book actually had one of the most infuriating heroines in it. I really don't know how i managed to keep from throwing my kindle across the room with every dumb decision Kennedy made. But boy did Memphis make up for that. He was just perfect in this book.It was full of angst and the last 50% of the book I had to read in one go to find out how it ended. And many times I didn't think it would it how I wanted. The author kept you guessing right until the very end.I would highly recommend this b [...]
