    1. I'm not normally a reader of romance or mystery, so there was always a fair chance it wouldn't work for me. The sexual tension was great and very compelling, but I did want it it explode into hotter and more graphic sex.The mystery side of the plot - well, at the outset I was really convinced, the setup was clever, tense, etc. Unfortunatly, I guessed the villan far too quickly and when the book reached its dramatic climax, I did not find the villan convincing, which was a great shame because it [...]

    2. “In the Arms of the Enemy” has romance and a murder to solve. I immediately liked the main character, Maggie, who is a horse trainer. She finds herself in circumstances beyond her control, with deception, mystery, and love. The setting on a ranch gives so much depth to the story. I loved the horse theme and love interest, “Adam”, who attempts to hide who he is. Not only was it a fun romance, but the detective work and horse training made it a page turner--and quick read. This is for not [...]

    3. "But don’t go leaving here with the idea that I don’t love you. That would make your leaving way too easyIf it’s a case that you’re expected to marry a Kentucky Blueblood socialite rather than a good, Scottish woman, that’s a different story. Then, be on your way"(p. 154)Meet the fiery and beautiful Maggie McGregor, horse trainer extraordinaire, in Patricia A. Guthrie’s wonderful first novel, In the Arms of the Enemy. Guthrie’s book is an exciting blend of suspense and sexy romance [...]

    4. Romps Home to a Classy FinishIn the Arms of the Enemy by Patricia A. Guthrie grabbed my attention because of the horses and the racing. I am a great fan of Dick Francis and wondered how Ms. Guthrie would fare in the comparison. I need not have worried. The opening is explosive, clutching both heart and brain before even a few pages are read. Here is a writer on control of her craft and she seizes the reader's emotion right from line one. Great writing; great characterization; and all effortless. [...]

    5. Book wasn't bad, but could have been so much better! It read like it was supposed to be a full length novel but the author had a maximum number of words that she was allowed. First of all, I felt like there was no foundation laid for the reason why Adam Blakely was convinced that Maggie McGregor was the one who'd killed his father's horse and was therefore responsible for his death. Maggie was the Assistant Trainer for the racehorse, but technically was the one training the horse. Why would a tr [...]

Only problem, he falls in love with his prime suspect.Maggie McGregor leaves the tumultuous world of horse racing determined to never train again, until a handsome boarder moves his horse into her father 19s barn. And that 19s when the accidents begin.Maggie and Adam find themselves drowning in a sea of deception and lies to uncover an insurance scam so insidious it could rock the foundations of [...]

    7. This was the cutest and sweetest book I have ever read. Their was plenty of suspense and romance. I couldn't put it down and I hope the author writes more books involving horses and romance.
