    1. I am not a historian, so I'm not sure if this was good or bad. Veyne is not a Christian, though, so it was interesting reading his take on Christianity: I liked his description of Christianity as having all the elements of a best-seller, because, heck, it's the best story of all time and possibly the only story. It seemed to me that he rather clumsily handled some of the mysteries of the faith, and I found myself thinking "hey! Don't touch that, it's not yours." In any case, the most worthwhile [...]

    2. Terrible. Veyne knows a lot about Christianity, but nothing about other religions - Judaism, among others. I.e he says the oriental religions (every one of them, no distinction whatsoever) are just a kind of paganism! ("Les religions orientales n'étaint que de banals paganismes, teintés d'un peu d'Orient".)I won't dwell too much about this weak book, but the worst is the constant comparasion between Costantin/Christianity and Lenin/Communism (!!!!). It's so dumb it's absurd and it's quite freq [...]

    3. Wow a very interesting personal opinion on Constantin´s rule as a religious man and its sucessors. Pretends to destroy a simplistic view meaning "He converted to christianism and is a political major leader therefor it was a political and machiavellic action". Furthermore Veyne throws for free a reflection on the statement which says we have a christian root as europeans and an investigation on the historical evolution of Jeová from "the best of the gods" to "the only God".
